Connect your POS

Connect Square, Clover, or Toast so Ding can use real sales data for forecasting and insights. Connect from Settings, confirm the active location, verify the sync, and know what Ding can still do while POS is unavailable.

Why POS data matters

Ding works without a POS, but connecting one upgrades what the Ops Agent can do. Real sales data makes forecasts sharper, campaign recommendations grounded, and business insights specific to your restaurant instead of generic.

  • Forecasting uses real demand patterns instead of rough estimates.
  • Ops recommendations reference what actually sells, not just what is on the menu.
  • Business insights reflect your true operating numbers.
Settings > Integrations. Connect Square, Clover, or Toast to bring real sales data into Ding.

Step 1: Connect from Settings

Start the connection from the Integrations page. Ding uses a secure sign-in flow with your POS, so you authorize access with your existing account.

  • Open Settings and then Integrations.
  • Choose your POS provider: Square, Clover, or Toast.
  • Complete the secure sign-in and authorize Ding to read your restaurant data.

Step 2: Confirm the active location

Many POS accounts manage more than one location. Make sure Ding is pointed at the right one so it does not mix data across restaurants.

  • After connecting, confirm the active location matches this restaurant.
  • If you run multiple locations, select the correct one before relying on the data.
  • Re-check the location if you ever change credentials or move locations.

Step 3: Verify the sync

Once connected, confirm data is actually flowing before you trust forecasts and insights built on it. The Home tab shows sync status alongside your other launch items.

  • Check the POS sync status on the Home tab and in Settings.
  • Confirm menu items and recent sales context appear after the first sync.
  • If the sync looks stale, reconnect or re-check the location and credentials.
Confirm a healthy sync status after connecting so forecasts and insights build on current data.

What Ding does without POS

You are never blocked from launching. If a POS is not connected, Ding still runs on your menu and settings context, and you can add the integration later.

  • The Waiter Agent works fully from your live menu and Knowledge Base.
  • The Ops Agent still analyzes menu context, sets goals, and drafts campaigns.
  • Connect a POS whenever you are ready to sharpen forecasting and insights.
